My Chromebook will not turn on
The laptop will not respond or show any sign of powering up
Faulty Charging Cable
Make sure that the power cable is firmly plugged into the Chromebook as well as a 120-volt wall outlet. If the light on the charger does not turn on, then you will need to consider purchasing a new charger.
Faulty Battery
If the light on the charging cable is on and it is plugged in, or if the laptop only powers on when the charger is plugged in, then the battery has most likely gone bad within the Chromebook itself. You can learn how to replace the battery with this guide.
My Chromebook will not keep a charge
The laptop does not charge when plugged in
Faulty Charging Cable
Make sure the charging cable is plugged into a working outlet. Make sure the Chromebook is shut down. If the Chromebook charges when powered off, there is most likely an issue with the charger, and you should consider purchasing a new one.
Faulty Battery
The battery itself may have issues holding a charge. If the Chromebook is overheating constantly, an issue could be with the battery itself. Consider replacing the battery.
Faulty Charging Port
If the charging light does not come on, you may have a faulty charging port. Survey the charging port for any damages on the outside port as well as inside the case of the Chromebook. If there is any physical damage, the charging port should be replaced.

The Chromebook turns on but the screen stays black
Faulty LCD
The screen may be damaged If the screen itself shows no signs of life such as flickering, then the screen may be the issue. If the screen does flicker, the LCD cable may need to be properly connected or replaced.
Faulty Motherboard
Make sure the Chromebook is charged. If the computer fan is fully working and the computer power light is on, there may be an issue with the motherboard. Ensure everything in the Chromebook is connected, such as the RAM ports, hard drive, and battery. If everything is properly connected to the board, the motherboard may need replacement. Making sure to not touch the motherboard with your bare hands, check for any physical damage on the motherboard such as scratches.
Keyboard does not work
Some or all of the keyboard doesn’t work
Individual Keys
If the problem is in certain keys, you should replace the individual keys rather than the entire keyboard
Entire Keyboard doesn’t work
If the entire keyboard doesn’t work, consider checking the connection between the keyboard and the motherboard first, and if it’s properly connected, consider replacing the keyboard.
USB Port Not Working
The USB Port has no signs of reading or powering devices
Enable USB Options
In the settings make sure all the settings for the USB port options are enabled and have not been changed. Through this, you will make sure USB connections are allowed and are not locked to a device type.
External Hardware Issue
To ensure it is not the USB that has an issue, try using other USB-powered hardware to check to see if their connections are successful. If so then it is the first USB-powered device that needs work. If the test connections are not successful then the USB port may need cleaning or replacing.
Cleaning USB Ports
When cleaning the USB ports there are two main ways to clean out dirt, dust, and other particles from the port. The first way is by using a can of compressed air to get everything loose so you will be able to use a needle or toothpick to scrape everything out. Another way to clean out the ports is by using a cotton swab soaked in Isopropyl Alcohol to absorb/wipe away debris and then drying.
If none of this progresses the quality of usage for the USB ports then you can move on to replacing the main components in the laptop.
