== Camera won't turn on == ''When you press the power button, the camera won't power on.'' === Check if the batteries are fully charged === If you have recently used your camera, it could be possible that the batteries have been fully drained of their power. If this is the case, recharging the batteries will be necessary. Plug one end of the power adapter into the camera and the other end into a wall socket to begin charging the batteries. === Electrical contacts may be corroded === When used an ample amount of time, the electrical contacts may become corroded. This could mean that the camera is not receiving the power it needs from the battery. To clean the corroded electrical contacts, first remove the battery. Then use a cloth or soft material to gently wipe away the corroded metal. === Weather conditions === When used in overly humid and moist weather conditions, the camera's electrical components may not function properly. Highly humid conditions could cause the camera's circuits and battery to not operate properly. === Incorrect battery installation === It is possible that you may have installed the batteries incorrectly. When installing the battery, make sure that there are no obstructions or moisture near the battery compartment. This could prevent the camera from receiving any power from the battery. == Flash will not work == ''When you take a picture the flash does not turn on.'' === Check the flash settings on the camera. === Make sure the flash is turned on in the camera settings. === Flash bulb may be broken or burned out. === If the camera has been dropped the flash bulb may have been broken due to the impact. The bulb may also be burned out due to usage. For both cases the bulb will need to be replaced. === Capacitor may be blown. === Capacitors give the light bulb the instantaneous flash. This can wear out and break after a lot of use. This will need to be replaced. == Poor Picture Quality == ''Pictures from the camera are of poor quality.'' === Photo Range === Make sure the target of the picture is within the acceptable range. The target should at least be 1.9 feet or 57 cm away. The range from the macro range should be between 10 and 57 cm (3in to 1.9 ft). === AutoFocus Beam === Check the front of the camera's beam source for any obstructions such as smudges. The AutoFocus Beam setting should be set on. === Lens Problems === Scratched or smudged lens can produce poor pictures. A smudged lens can be cleaned, but a scratched lens needs replacement. === Flash === Make sure the flash setting is turned on in low light situations and turned off in bright light situations. If the flash does not go off even after turning the settings on, then the flash unit may need replacement. === LCD Screen === Blurry or grainy pictures appearing on the screen may be the result of a damaged screen. If cleaning lens on the camera do not work, then a screen replacement is needed. === Movement === Moving the camera while taking a picture can produce a blurry picture. Remember to hold the camera in place when the picture is taken. == Black screen == ''When the pictures you take do not display images and, instead, show a black screen.'' === Check if the LCD is on === It is possible that you may have accidentally turned off the LCD. Check if it is on by turning the camera on and pressing the "DISPLAY" or "DISP" button. === Stuck shutter === Black pictures can be caused by a stuck shutter. One way to fix the shutter is by interrupting the power while the shutter is trying to open. For a more in-depth overview of the steps to fixing a stuck shutter, please refer to our repair guide. === Faulty CCD image sensors === Faulty CCD image sensors were installed on a large number of Canon cameras. The sensors may go bad prematurely with time, especially in humid areas. It is recommended that you do not try to fix the CCD at home and to contact a professional to fix this problem. == Buttons Are Not Responding == "When you push a button, the camera does not perform that certain operation" === Check if the battery is charged === It is possible that the battery is completely drained. In this case, all you need to do is connect your device to its power adapter. Your device should work properly once power is available. === Button board may be dislocated === Button boards on cameras often shift when the device has been exposed to damage such as a drop. If your device is fully charged and its buttons continue to malfunction, it is possible that the button board has shifted. In this case, you should remove the hard case and realign the button board. === Replacement === If you have tried the above steps and your camera's buttons continue to malfunction the last step would be replacement. In this case, you could call a specialist to perform the work for you or you can order a new button board and refer to the repair guide for in-depth instructions on how to manually replace them.
