Screen Doesn't Work
The computer turns on, but the screen does not.
Brightness Setting is Low
Try increasing the brightness or contrast on the laptop. This can be done by pressing the Fn key in conjunction with your brightness function keys located on the left side of the keyboard.
Key Command
A certain macro (list of key commands), can switch the laptop to output to external displays. Press the Fn key and the F1 key to switch back to the internal display (Fn+F2 for external display).
Faulty Monitor
Connect the laptop to an external monitor through the HDMI port. If the picture appears on the monitor then the laptop screen may be faulty. This following guide shows the steps to repairing the broken screen.
Faulty RAM
If the monitor does not show any picture (refer to above section), then the RAM could be at fault. Make sure that the RAM inside of the laptop is secure and not loose from the slot. If the RAM is damaged or broken this following guide will show the steps to replacing the RAM.
Computer Running Slowly
The computer does not run as fast as it used to.
Faulty Ram
Make sure the laptop has the amount of RAM required for the programs that you desire to run. A telltale sign of faulty ram is three short beeps. If you experience this symptom, or the computer is running slower in general, try replacing the RAM using the following guide.
Disk Space
Try clearing out some folders that are unneeded or the windows recycling bin. A good program to aid in this process is Clean My PC.
Speakers No Longer Function
Audio is either distorted or non-existent.
Audio is Muted
First step would be to make sure you haven't muted the audio. Hit the "mute" button to make sure it is currently off.
Loose Headphone Jack
Test audio through the computer speakers, then test it using headphones. If the audio is only distorted while listening via headphones, the audio jack or the headphones themselves may be faulty. Audio that cuts in and out is often a sign of a loose audio jack, so make sure the audio jack is fully inserted in the computer.
Faulty Driver
If the audio sound is distorted when listening through the laptop’s speakers, the audio driver may be corrupt. You can check by clicking "Start"- "Control Panel"-"Device Manager"- and checking for an exclamation mark on the audio driver. This can be remedied by downloading the most up to date driver from ASUS's support website here:
https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1015071
Keys No Longer Function
Hitting the key yields no response.
Dirt/Debris Under Key
If your keys will not function properly, a common cause is simply dirt or debris. Attempt to dislodge anything caught under the key using a water-displacing spray (WD-40).
Key is Defective
A broken or defective key will seem fully functioning but will not input key presses to the computer. If they key or keyboard itself is broken, replace it with by following this guide.
Disk Drive Won't Open
The disk drive is stuck inside the laptop.
Broken/Defective Optical Drive
First attempt to use the emergency release on the disk tray by taking a paperclip and inserting it into the small whole on the outside of the disk tray. There should be a small click and the tray should pop out. If your ASUS GL752VW optical drive does not open or does not read CD's or DVD's, the optical drive may be broken and [needs to be replaced].
Battery Won't Hold a Charge
Battery does not charge to full capacity, or drains rapidly.
Faulty Outlet
Make sure that the laptop charger is plugged into a working outlet. Test this by plugging the power cord into a different outlet then, if the device charges normally the power outlet could be faulty.
Faulty Power Cord
If your ASUS power cord is malfunctioning, it may not be properly charging the laptop. Ensure it is plugged in and the light is on. If the light is not on, replace the charger.
Defective Battery
If the laptop only functions when on its charger, regardless of time charged, the battery is defective and must be replaced.
Device is Overheating
While working, your computer randomly shuts off, most of the time it is caused by dust build up in the vents and/or fans.
