I am a training specialist by day and a geek by night. I have disassembled almost every electronic in my home at one point or another if to do nothing beyond to remove the accumulated dust and dirt buildup.
I tried to add 16gb to MBP mid 2012 (non retina)When trying to upgrade to 16gb MBP the result was disastrous. The system would become frozen on a scrambled (and flashing,...
What is the maximum RAM the MBP 15" Mid 2012 can use?I have a 15" MacBook Pro that I received as a gift, but I need to upgrade the RAM (no retina display). Apple Website says...
回答“The freezer and fridge are not cooling nor freezing”Refrigerators and Freezers operate using compressed gas refrigerant which is at a high pressure in copper lines that run through a compressor, condenser, and evaporator. The compressor which is often the most susceptible part of the system may be damaged if you have frequent power brown outs or momentary power outages of just a few seconds. o see if the compressor is damaged pull the refrigerator out from the wall, confirm the fan in the back of the unit is running when plugged in, there should be a cover (often of cardboard or plastic with simple screws that covers the fan and compressor. The compressor is will be a device that will be shaped sort of like a black egg like shape. with tubing going into and out of it. When the refrigerator cycles on the fan should start and if you listen closely to the black egg it will make a deep rumble (or growl sound) If the compressor does not make any sound after a few minutes 5 to 10 then it is most likely burnt out. If it runs and the fan is operating. Are the coils...
回答“Why is the tv clicking repeatedly when plugged in and unresponsive?”This sounds most likely to be a power converter failure often this is the unit generating heat and clicking in the area where the power cord enters the back of the unit. This would be something that is best left to a pro because capacitors that are inside of these units can store a sufficient charge (for days, weeks, or longer) to cause permanent injury if you should unwittingly make contact with the wrong component or contact particularly if one has been shorted or otherwise damaged.
回答“Graphics card replacement options”Because architecture changes between the 2010 and 2011 the radeon HD 5750 with 1GB is going to be your best bet. Without having that level of Video support you will find your OS lagging substantially using Mac OS Sierra which already makes use of the video card processing capabilities. If you downgrade video cards expect that you may find Sierra not performing as smoothly. You may want to do a good blowout of your system. One question do the pixels that are out of sync remain the same ones? Do they change between boots? If they are the same ones, then the pixels have frozen (often occurs from damage to the display, age or a combo of the 2) and a new video card will not alter this as the frozen pixel would be a physical characteric of the LCD screen. If you have more substantial artifacts (sections rather than just pixels that are frozen) and happens with more than just one program. (I have found that more than one program will have artifacts until they are updated and then the artifacts go away because a...
回答“Is my logic board dead”You may have inadvertently blown out a component with the 6tb hard drive as it isn't supported by iMac and the power requirements may be beyond capabilities. Also if you used a sata blade it would need to be positioned so that none of the soldered metal components make contact with external casing or other metal components within the mac (resulting in a short). I would check that all the SATA connectors are properly seated on the back of the motherboard and they have not been pinched during the prior installation. If one is pinched it will need to be replaced. The failure to have a tritone is an indication that the firmware is not communicating with one or more required components necessary to boot the system. (such as HDD, SSD, Video, etc) some components will result in a 3 beep sound indicating a problem such as keyboard, wifi, webcam are not connected. Have you attempted to boot from an external HDD (hold down alt during power on to obtain boot drive options.) Note that the first time you put new...
回答“Cant start phone setup wont connect to wifi”Have you a hard restart of the phone (hold down the power button and the home button simultaneously until 2 seconds after the apple logo appears) Have the phone connected to your computer with a cable while doing this and have iTunes opened. If this is successful backup your phone immediately with a local backup and should allow you to wipe and restore IOS (fixing any corrupt parts of the OS) and and your apps. If this fails you may have a hardware failure, but you should still be able to use the phone if the WiFi component has failed, just disable the WiFi syncing when you restore IOS.
回答“Only have color ink no black ink won,t print”Depending on your printer model you may be able to over-ride the "out of ink message" and force it to print. This would depend on your printer mfr and model. You can try the trick of taking out the cartridge and shaking it around and putting it back in the printer (that occasionally will work for a couple pages) Make sure you have "calibration" turned off as this will use ink during it's process. Note that some mfr's will not allow the printer to function if it senses an out of ink condition (I found this more common with ink-jet printers)
回答“No suction. Air comes out of small vent.”To add to mayer's response. The air redirection is an indication of a clogged dirt intake (this is done to prevent burning out the motor) The re-direct commonly when the dustbin is too full. In theory you don't want the Dyson's dustbin to get completely full. When this occurs the vac becomes slowly less effective as it packs more and more dirt into the bin, and more likely that debris may not be handled properly and resulting in the dirt intake becoming blocked. More likely and in my case the dirt intake blocks when an item which is slightly longer or wider than the dirt intake channel airway can accommodate at one point or another. Problem areas are the U-bend, the bend just before the dustbin, and the accordion hose just after the brush bar. Problem is that an item is able to be picked up by the vac and it doesn't immediately clog, and the user is unaware that the dirt intake is partially obstructed. Over time items catch on the same piece of debris obstructing the dirt intake and eventually cut the...
回答“water not dispensing when paddle is pushed”Check the drip tray (or base of water ice area) for it to slide outward or upward (or combination) Once removed you should find screws or plastic tabs to release the remainder of the assembly. Advisable to remove the light to prevent inadvertently breaking the bulb.
回答“The dishes on the top rack are filthy, bottom rack cleans great.”Assuming you are using a good quality detergent. And the upper spray arm nozzle is not clogged with mineral deposits, etc. If you have 2 (or more) spray arms. The upper spray arms are most likely not expelling liquid. Determine if your upper spray arms are supplied dishwater through tubing that goes up the back of the dishwasher or if the lower arm has a center output (possibly it may look like a collapsed accordion like piping is in the center. For piping going up the back of the washer the upper basket arm should have a pipe going to the back of the washer. This must meet up properly so that when the water is expelled from the pump it is forced thru the connection and out the upper spray arm (s). If the connection is not made then the water may be partially going thru the upper spray arm or not at all. (Our current washer the connection got moved out of place. But it was easy to move back into place. (Also as prior by Dan check for debris such as cellophane wrapping that loves to get under the lower...
回答“What RAM modules will it hold?”From the question "I see that many high-performance modules have heat sinks or heat dissipators on them." Keep in mind that iMac's use SODIMM memory (often referred to as Laptop) for at least the last 10 years. The high performance modules you are referring to are desktop PC memory. Also starting with 2012 models the 21" iMac is does not have a memory access plate. To not void your warranty you would need to take the 21" unit to an authorized service center or to apple to upgrade a 21" memory. The 27" iMac still has the access plate and is therefore user upgradable.
