Not sure why @tomchai said none of those because replacing this: iPhone 6 Logic Board Antenna Flex Cable should certainly fix the problem. Everytime a customer comes with wifi being weak and all on my own phones for re-sale I replace the antenna in the top left corner (under the logic board) and wifi range is back to normal.

This is a common problem with bad quality copy screens It is believed that the static from swiping the phone causes the problem and locking/unlocking resets it

Has the screen been repaired before? easy way to tell without opening the device is look for a blue tint in the front camera lens.

Dial *#0# cycle through the colours and see when the screen goes funny. It does sound like the AMOLED display may be damaged but I would try updating/restoring just to elminate the chance of a software issue. Samsung offer 2 years warranty so will fix this problem free of charge, don't bother taking it to a repair shop as not only will it void your warranty but will cost you a fortune

This can also be down to the fact that the glass isn't right. Copy screens use thin glass and sometimes have to add bits of plastic to make the home button sit right

Well, what do you know... Took it out of the housing and just had battery and charging port (no screen) didn't work, tried with screen, didn't work... I thought I'd give it a bath with IPA99. Didn't ultrasonic clean or even remove IMEI shields as I can't at the moment but what do you know it worked and the device is fully restored No visible signs of water damage

That straight line is moisture. I do OCA repairs and when I put it in the autoclave to remove all bubbles I get these lines from moisture in the autoclave. They disappear in a day or so If it doesn't dissapear then you would need to change the rear backlight and possibly the rear polarizer. If it is the rear polarizer then I would avoid trying to do it if you don't have the machines etc to do so.

Replaced the battery and the issue is now solved

There are housings out there with different colours etc. You can make your iPhone 5 look like a small iPhone 6S. However, nobody has made a housing to fit an SE to a 5C because it's considered a downgrade.
