the rrod(red ring of death) means that your xbox is in need of repair. the reason it has rrod is because there is a a cold solder joint under the gpu, cpu, ram, or south bridge. no need to be alarmed there are many people out there that fix xbox 360s. just make sure you pick the right person. do not send it to gamestop or any other local retail store unless you are absolutly sure they do a reflow or reball. if they do the xclamp fix your xbox 360 will last more than a month IF YOUR LUCKY. always ask for some pics for their work station. if they reflow make sure thay have a hot air rework staion or a ir rework station. anything else stay away from them, its not worth it. if they reball then thats good. just make sure that they use lead solder balls. unlead is what microsoft uses so it only lasts a while. if they already did a xclamp repair just send it to someone who reball or reflows and they get it fixed properly
if its the gpu just give it a good reflow or reball. id recommend a reball because it will be like the xbox came right out of the box. oh, make sure when they reball they uselead solderballs.
well like the acceped answer says, get a talismoon fan. when you replace it make sure the xbox stays cool. thats why the fan is loud, to keep the xbox from overheating and getting the rrod. when you replace the fan keep the loud one and sell it on ebay or something. lots of people would like the fan.
if you changed the dvd key that why its not working. if you didn't then you need to find the problem. if its the laser clean it with alcohol or buy a new one.
Well. from the accepted answer i'd highly recommend you dont replace the x-camps with screws. i learned that the hard way just dont do it. it can cause flexing, break the heatsink(depending on how long the screws are) and it could cause uneven pressure if you screw them on wrong. Gamestop does this fix and a whole bunch of other repair services. if the xclamp fix is done to your xbox the problem will come back in 4 weeks tops maybe even 2 months if your really lucky. so if you send it to someone ask for some pics of their work station and make sure thay dont do an xclamp fix on your xbox. the best fix anyone could do is reball with LEAD solder balls(make sure its lead!!), add an extra fan to reduce heat on the heatsinks, and a 12v fan mod. doing this to and xbox will make sure you have the best long term fix. there are many bad fixes out there like the towel fix, xclamp fix, + more. if your repair man does reflows be careful with them. they have to have the right equipment. a hot air reflow station is...
