Vespa Scooter models are easily identified and referred to by the first 3 digits of the VIN, which is easily decoded. All start with "V" for Vespa. The second Digit designates engine size and/or trim level.
N = 125cc
B = 150cc 8" Wheel
G = 150cc 10" Wheel
S = Deluxe model with 10" wheel, 4-speed transmission, and spare tire.
The 3rd digit is the model progression, similar to Mark or revision.
Some common models that fall under the Large Frame class of Vespa.
125cc base models: VNA, VNB, VNC, & VNX
150cc midrange models: VBA, VBB, & VBC.
160cc-200cc deluxe models: VSB, VSC, VSD, VSE, VSX
1959 Vespa Large Frame with a 1997 engine and 2001 front fork installed. A great example of the interchangeability and few changes made to these models over the years.
