The Samsung DVD-HD850 player is a single disc DVD player that enhances the video format of ordinary DVD titles into HD formats (720p/768p/1080p). This allows the viewer to watch their DVD titles at about twice the resolution that a regular DVD player would offer.

The types of disc formats that this DVD player is compatible with are as follows: DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW, VCD, SVCD, MP3, WMA and JPEG formats. JPEG files are shown in a slideshow with the option of intervals of 6, 12, or 18 seconds between each image. You also have the option to zoom in on the image/s or rotate it 90 degrees clockwise.

This DVD player has a bookmark function that allows you to store up too 3 different scenes for easy accessibility. The instant replay function allows you to watch the previous 10 seconds of the movie again. This device also had a instant skip function that jumps ahead 10 seconds into the movie. Lastly, there is a parental control function that allows you to put a password on specific discs so the only way you can watch certain discs is if you enter that password.
