Background and Identification
Philips is a prominent technology company that supplies a variety of electronics, including devices for the household, health, lighting, sound & vision, automotive, etc. Philips was founded in 1891 by Gerard and Frederik Philips as a light bulb company. Philips today is headquartered in Amsterdam but supplies electronics worldwide.
Among Philips electronics are Philips razors. Philips razors do vary in both cost and functionality, but they are all designed with the primary purpose of hair removal. Philips razors are an ancestor to the first razor, which has been dated back to around the Bronze Age.
The first razors were made of bronze or obsidian and were oval-like in shape. However, interestingly enough, the frequent shaving practices of modern culture didn’t come around until the 20th century. During World War I, soldiers were required to shave every day to ensure their gas masks fit correctly. This frequent shaving practice bled out into the rest of society, resulting in a widespread need for razors. After World War I, in the 1930s, electric razors were invented.
Philips razors have electronic components, a handle, and a blade of some form. They are manufactured in many colors and have the Philips logo somewhere on the device.
