Linksys WRT54GS v2 Repair

The second version of the Linksys WRT54GS wireless router is nearly identical to the WRT54G except for additional RAM, flash memory, and SpeedBooster software. The first, second, and third versions all have 16MB of RAM and 8MB of flash memory. You can verify your version by looking at the model number on the underside of the router.

Version 2 reintroduced the SecureEasySetup (seen in the WRT54G) which allows configuring your wireless device with a push button. By pushing the button on the router and on your other SecureEasySetup-enabled wireless device, you automatically create an encryption-secured wireless connection.

The router features removable antennas that allow the user to replace them with high-gain antennas for increased range.

The WRT54GS was followed by the WRT54GL in 2005.
