Background and Identification
Lesion generators are a type of surgical instrument that typically uses continuous or pulsed radio frequency (RF) to disrupt nerve pathways. Lesion generators are used to manage pain during surgery or to treat chronic pain through nerve ablation.
Because lesion generators are used on brain tissue during neurosurgical procedures, they must be highly accurate in the delivery of RF to a specific area. They include built-in safety and temperature monitoring to more accurately control the thermolesioning process.
