Analog Stick Capen
Background and Identification
The SN30 Pro is a wireless game controller designed by 8BitDo in the style of various retro consoles. The dog bone shape of the SN30 Pro is based on the original Super Nintendo controller, but the SN30 Pro features modern dual joysticks and four shoulder buttons—two for each hand—on the top of the controller. You can use the gamepad via Bluetooth with compatible devices like the Nintendo Switch or Raspberry Pi as well as most machines running Windows, macOS, or Android. You can also connect or charge the controller via USB-C.
The A, B, X, and Y buttons on the SN30 Pro come in a few different styles: light blue to match a Super Nintendo controller or burgundy to match the original Game Boy. Both styles also come in a USB-only version (no Bluetooth) with different internal design. This wired model has a non-detachable USB cable which can help you differentiate it.
The SN30 Pro is similar to other products from 8BitDo. The SN30 Pro+ uses the same design but has additional palm grips extending from the sides of the dog bone, making it similar to a Dualshock. The (non-pro) SN30 is a more plain controller that does not feature joysticks. You can tell which controller you have by reading the name on the front of the gamepad.
An original discontinued version of the SN30 Pro had select and start buttons that were slanted instead of horizontally aligned. 8BitDo offered a separate product called the SF30 Pro which was identical barring the red, yellow, green, and blue buttons in the style of the Super Famicom (Japanese SNES).
