Model A1224 / Mid 2007 and Early 2008 / 2, 2.4, or 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo processor

Internal display not recognized

iMac 20-inch Early 2008

There is no picture at all on the iMac display. System Profiler shows no display being detected. Diagnostic LED 1, 2, 3 or on but 4 is off. A video signal is being generated as the desktop can be seen by logging in via Apple Remote Desktop. I haven't test an external monitor because I don't have the display adapter. I replaced the LVDS cable which had no effect. I'm assuming the display itself is bad.

Just looking for confirmation on this from anyone who has had a similar problem. If that's the case is the only feasible option to replace the LCD panel? Is it worth disassembling the LCD panel itself and testing/checking anything?

Here's a screenshot of System Profiler:

As I mentioned I replaced the LVDS cable which had no effect.

I cannot see a picture at all on the display, completely black. Holding a flashlight up to it shows nothing either. That leads me to believe it's not just a backlight issue.

I would check it with an external monitor before replacing the display. If you can see the desktop at all, then it's most likely the inverter not the display. Here's how to replace the display: iMac Intel 20" EMC 2133 和 2210 显示面板更换

It's certainly worth doing but you may have to do some searching for a good price.

I ordered a mini-DVI connector so I can test an external display. In the meantime I tested LVDS connector on the logic board and I have a question. Here are detailed specs on this LCD panel - http://www.50amp.com/imac/LM201WE3-TLF1....

Page 9 shows the pinout for the LVDS cable connector. Pins 28,29,30 supply 5v to the panel. With the computer on those pins on the logic board connector read 0v, so no power is being supplied to the panel apparently. However what I don't know is if a voltage should be on those pins at all times or if the supply voltage is dependent on some other factor. If the inverter is bad for example, would that have any affect on whether or not power is supplied to the LCD panel?

It sounds like you might have an error with your display cable. I would try checking to see if any of the display cable internally has melted or if the connector has come loose. You can use this manuel if you want to check the internals:

Hope this helps.
