LCD Replacement iMac 20"

Can you replace a LM201W01 (SL)(A3) with a LM201E01 (ST)(B2) or LM201W01 (A5)(K2)? Not sure what the numbers in () represent.

Can you also give us the Apple part number? It should be something like 661-3881 or 661-3895. Also the last three figures of your serial number would help.

Sure I have the same question I have no chime on two 2006 32 bit [U2P and U25} one came with LCD (ST) (B2) and the other (SL)(A3) Should I try a late 2006 inverter in this early 2006 or try to stick with inverters that say they are for this model. The sl-a3 works and seems to fit better for a late 2006

The suffix provides EDID or Extended Display Identification Data. AFAIK each manufacturer can make/use their own codes... e.g. SL may mean Silver, A may mean black (surrounding the crystals) B2 could mean glossy, or A3 may mean matte. I think I read someplace that there's possibly 500 different compatible screens for most computers.

If you follow the link you can see that getting the correct LCD is much more complicated than purchasing a light bulb or set of tires for your car.

Good Luck,

The EDID info is on a EPROM on the scaler card and not the LCD.

You can use suffixes SLA1 and B5 as a substitute for the SLA3. The A5K2 will not work. The SLA3 uses LVDS to communicate with the scaler card and the A5K2 does not use LVDS.
