Can't for the sake of it, make the zif connector stay latched
hello, hoping someone can help shed a light on this or give me a tip
I disassembled a macbook pro mid 2012 per the site instructions.. now I've disassembled other systems before, and when I saw it had a ZIF connector I was like.. oh hello darkness my old friend.. since these have always been troublesome for me (I think I broke it in the first laptop I ever disassembled, so obviously I had a lot of care unlatching it and disconnecting the cable.
everything went fine until I tried to reassemble it. I can't, for the sake of it.. get the connector far enough, the socket is unlatched so it's not that, I tried latching it anyway but, obviously, the cable didn't stay put.. so I'm at a loss here.. and I'm starting to bend the cable corners, so I'm not going to try it anymore until I get a guiding voice. correct me if I'm wrong but I think the white stripe should line up with the white dots alongside the connector. I've attached a picture, I can't get it further than that..
I have a another macbook pro case (the donor) and I tried to connect the connector into the defective mainboard, just to try it out and I'm having the same problem.
Then at the end I dissasembled the whole thing and tried to connect it at an angle.. yes it does get in and gets latched that way, but then there is no way you can place the motherboard again without breaking the connector.
I've tried the electrical tape trick that is mentioned in a thread around here, but the tape doesn't glue into the cable either.. so I don't know what to do
