I saw the issue for randomly shutting off. I'm not sure if the won't turn on is the same issue or a different one. I can hit the on button and nothing happens, but then after trying a few times, it will come on. It also randomly will shut off.

Try replacing all the batteries including the backup battery. There could also be a bad connection between the spiral wire contacts that connect the battery to the circuit board. Push gently down on the bottom left and right ones. that may make a more reliable circuit.
