using USB wi-fi adapter to connect wireless network

MY question is:

if I remove the wi-fi network card inside of my iMac, can I use any USB dongle to connect the wi-fi of my home network?

I want to remove wireless card cause I want to use miniPCIexpress slot for other purposes

you need one compatible with OSX.

for a similar problem, but not the same.

I do, or did have to use this on a older OSX based computer running 10.5..... i did have to use the little OSX airlink tool/program rather then built in airport to control it.

Not sure if this works with snow leopard or lion.

something to look into or maybe point you in the right direction, or look for more reviews etc..... i don't have latest info for wireless for mac since this worked fine for what i was doing at the time.
