Boot Not POST worked previously

My custom PC is not giving any display

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500

GPU: AMD RX 5700XT

SSD: MSI Spatium 1 TB

RAM: Patriot Viper RGB 16GB

Motherboard: Gigabyte A520I AC

We've tried cleaning the RAM, reseating the GPU, updating the BIOS, and resetting the CMOS

It started when I installed a water cooler (LS520 SE AIO). After installation, it didn't Post. All lights turn on and the AIO is pumping. Please help.

Thank you for listing the specifications.

  • First advice - keep a running list of what you check and the results. Try one thing at a time so you know what fixes things.
  • It is possible that your motherboard does not work with your water cooling system. Have a look at this link:
  • Compatible CPU coolers with Gigabyte A520I AC motherboard The Pangoly site above does say your Cooler is compatible but I would perhaps contact Gigabyte directly. I looked at the manual and I don't see dedicated pump connectors only CPU_Fan's.

If all above is fine look through below.

  • Does it display anything at all like the BIOS/UEFI screen?
  • Does the drive access light on the case blink indicating Windows is booting up even though there is no display?
  • As you probably already know this CPU does not have integrated graphics built in otherwise you could test it without the AMD RX 5700XT GPU installed.
  • Have you tried anther graphics card?
  • Tested you monitor with another computer?
  • Double checked that all cable are connected or correctly connected?
  • Disconnect all hard drive, use one RAM module at a time in different slots
  • Adequate power supply? There are calculators on the web that will help with this.

That should keep you busy for a while.

Hopefully this is not the case but you may shorted something during the installation.

Hello Mike, and thank you for your thorough advice

A few more things I need to verify:

I have a 1x16 stick of RAM

I don't have spare GPUs

Everything is tested to work fine

It's not a monitor issue

It may be an insufficient PSU wattage but I'm having trouble finding websites that include an AIO in the parts list

Update: found a website

https://www.bequiet.com/en/psucalculator

it says 550-650 watts, my current PSU is 500 watts, so maybe that's the problem.

Thanks again

Hi @arshiasiddiqui

Yes quite likely as the water cooler system is going to draw more power than just an air fan. I see your DeepCool LS520 SE draws 280 watts. It is best to go for at least the 650 Watt, or higher, power supply. It is very important as an insufficient power supply will strain ALL components on your system.

I'm going to try booting without the AIO plugged in. I'll keep you updated.

Thanks again

@arshiasiddiqui Make sure you re-install the old heat sink and fan before testing or you may damage your CPU!

You need to determine what is running and not by careful observation.

  1. Is the drive LED blinking at all? If not, You likely have a PSU problem since there is likely bad power to the drive and it can't post.
  2. Does the drive light blink for a short period and stop? If so, the drive is performing its post, but the CPU isn't running because the drive LED should continue to blink as it is loading S/W.
  3. Does the drive LED blink for a long time with nothing on the display? If so, the CPU is running and it is likely a display problem.
  4. Does the drive LED blink for a long time and the screen show a bar in the top left? If so, windows is hanging trying to query a component. Remove anything from ports that you do not absolutely need.

If you only got to 3.

Find a speaker you can connect to the MB. The connection is where the power & drive LED connectors are.

If it runs the POST it will give you some beeps to work with. ONE beep means the post was successful which it likely won't at this point. You will have to look up other beep codes for your EEPROM s/w.

Report back results.

Thanks a lot for your patience, I rebuilt it from the ground up and figured that the fan/RGB hub was taking too much power so I disconnected it

That was a really good idea rebuilding. My suggest to disconnect almost everything was along the same line. Well done. When you can afford it a good brand 650 Watt power suplly would be a good purchase.

btw i mispoke before: its actually 600W
