Device Won’t Power On. Need help identifying missing components

I inherited this older iPhone 7 from my grandpa. He tried to repair it himself (took off the front glass) and I could see somethings were tampered with. The screen was unplugged for starters. I did notice that there is some thermal paste visible which makes me think maybe he took out a component? I’ll include a picture below, but if anyone could help me identify if a part is missing and if so, which part it is.

I plugged the screen back in and when I charge the device I do feel it getting warm, so im not sure what else could be wrong.

Any help is appreciated :)

There is nothing but a protective film this will not have any affect power on. There must be another issue battery might be in sleep mode.

How could I get the battery out of sleep mode? I’ve already left it on the charger for about 30 mins and still no power on.

ifixit has some great pictures of the iPhone 7 internals you can compare to: https://www.ifixit.com/News/8409/iphone-...

From personal experience I would check the cables (Specifically the ones under the loose panel) as they are very delicately connected without the screw panel holding them in place.

By advice is to follow one of the ifixit step by step guides (iPhone 7) for reassembly and verify each cable and component is correctly hooked up. If this still doesn't work you might have a malfunctioning part (did the screen in fact get repaired from its original issue?). The goods news is that if you feel it getting warm when charging, the logic board and battery are likely working and you are just not seeing any output on the screen.
