Is it possible to build this whole laptop on my own?
Hi there!
I am feeling a little experimental and was wondering if I bought every part of this laptop could I possibly turn it into a functional Macbook Pro?

Years ago Frankensteining phones and systems was popular! As one could often find a collection of parts to build a desktop being able to put in maybe a better GPU board or drive the system maker didn’t offer. For awhile cellphones and even laptops could be done too!
Today things are very different!
Finding the discrete parts would be too expensive, finding a bunch of broken systems might get you close. But Apple has killed that to help reduce both physical and information theft. A TouchID locked logic board is useless!
Basically even getting a used working system can still be expensive if you where thinking this would be a cheap answer.

Would this still be the case if I did it for example if I did it with a laptop from a different brand? Since I have a 3D printer is it possible for me to 3D print the backplate and a few other stuff?
Also, I have a late 2009 iMac 27". I have just finished removing all the components for the fun of it. I was wanting to put it back together except not in the actual iMac because I was wanting to replace the GPU and CPU cooler as well as the power brick.
(I turned the LCD panel and the case into a monitor)
Is this possible and what CPU's, CPU coolers and GPU's would be compatible and how much watts would I need the new power brick to be?

Some things require more than a home 3D printer. Taking an old 2009 iMac logic board out to repurpose is really not possible. First the logic board is setup in a chimney configuration. That’s when the air flow is maximized. Even creating your own heatsink or even try to find something that would even fit outside of what Apple designed for the logic board is not really possible.
This is not just an Apple thing, Dell and other system makers are doing the same! This is all aimed to prevent you from enhancing your system! Planned obsolescence.
