SSD/HDD optical drive caddy removal

So I wanted to get some more storage space and add another ssd. I decided to install it in place of dvd drive in a caddy. Sadly my pc can't see the ssd, not even in disk manager. I thought maybe the ssd isnt plugged in tightly enough as I never done it before, so I decided to remove it and try mounting again. But my problem is - I don't know how to remove it? I cant just eject it like actual optical drive - or can I? Also when it comes to attaching ssd to a caddy - should it click, should I use some force? I think it's mainly screws that keep it together. Last thing - if that idea doesn't help, what else could the problem be? I think the caddy is same size as my dvd drive, but not 100% sure

Hi @domidomi

Here's the start of the procedure to remove the optical drive from the laptop, which is the same as for the caddy which replaced it.

The SSD will be screwed into the caddy which then permanently connects to the motherboard, until you go through the procedure to remove the caddy.

Caddies are third party devices, and not all of them will work with all systems, so you may have an incompatible caddy.

As a check make sure that the caddy is as thick as the dvd drive so that when it is inserted its connector will line up with the motherboard connector. As an example when replacing the HDD with an SSD, the SSD being only 7mm thick needs a 9.5mm spacer placed underneath it (usually supplied with the SSD by reputable suppliers) so that its connector lines up to match the connector position for the 16mm HDD.

Here's an example that explains a bit more about using caddies - see item description
