Compatibility iMac 2017 | Upgrade internal - SSD Samsung 980 PRO / 980
I have an iMac 2017 5K retina display and Fusion Drive 2TB + 32GB SSD internal blade. I would like to upgrade the internal PCIe 32 SSD to a new Samsung SSD m2 NVME 980 (simple or PRO) - and I would like to know if th enew SSD from Samsung is compatible via a 16+12 pin adaptor, for my iMac 2017?
I was looking at the first time to buy a 980 PRO SSD but I read that the PCIe 4.0 is not available in my iMac 2017, so the max. speed I would get is the speed of PCIe 3. Is this right? If 980 PRO is better than 980 simple (not takeing in consideration speeds) I would choose the PRO versions, but if they are the same...the cost for PRO is almost 35-40 eur +.
