My screen is ghost touching and has dead spots after replacement.
I replaced my screen and after the replacement, it now has ghosting and dead spots at the top. What can I do to fix this?
If I may elaborate on @tech_ni's excellent suggestion, you'll need to go back over your work and see if you can figure out what went wrong. Obviously the touch screen should be working perfectly after a screen replacement, so there's a glitch in there somewhere.
Yeah, you'll have to open up the phone again, so have some more screen adhesive handy. Specifically, you'll be checking the digitizer connection to the logic board as shown by the connector I've marked in this picture.
Unplug the connector and check the pins on both sides, the cable and the motherboard, for any signs of bent or broken pins. A magnifying glass and a bright light will help you spot them more easily. If you find any bent pins, they can sometimes be straightened with some fine tip tweezers, but broken pins will be harder to fix.
Once you're happy that the pins are intact, clean both connectors with 90% or higher concentration isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry then reconnect the digitizer, making sure it's securely clicked in place and retest.
If it's still not working, there's always the possibility that either the cable got damaged or the new screen is defective. If you still have the old screen and it's at least semi-functional, put the old one back in and see if that changes anything. If the old screen works normally then there's an issue with the new one and you may need to get a replacement.
Check this all out and let us know what you find, Colin. Good luck!
