Hey @solucoessi85243

The M2 Air uses a Lid Sensor, which is installed next to the LEFT display hinge, use a PL2 to remove the 1 screw that holds the actual sensor in place at the hinge and remove the cover on the IC board in the top left corner using 2 TX 3 screws to remove the lid sensor and check it for damages.
They are put in a place where corrosion is highly likely to happen after liquid damage :(

To add to @omelettebaguet great answer! The sensor needs to be programmed!

So you need to get the replacement part directly from Apple as you need to use their paywalled calibration tool. Or you need to use a used part which has been programmed, you can’t use one who is selling a virgin part (exited the factory from the side door) as you can’t program it!

Now stand up and yell Thank You Apple!

Thanks!

T2 and T3 bits btw

tried to fix mine by reflowing away the liquid damage and the magic smoke went out :P

@danj THANK YOU APPLE ヽ(ಠ_ಠ)ノ

Absolutely right, very important detail not to be overlooked if the lid angle sensor needs replacement!

Alternatively, if you are willing to sacrifice the automatic wake/sleep function when opening/closing the lid you could also just leave the sensor out entirely.
