Resolution not supported error
Samsung model UN55ES8000FXZA. TV "blinks", sound quits, screen flashes blue/green and then returns to normal picture but displays resolution settings in upper left corner. All this happens in about one second, but at times it happens over and over making it difficult to watch TV. Sometimes it will not return to a normal picture and instead displays "Mode not supported - Resolution not supported. Change resolution of external device" There is no "external device." Directly connected to cable and hardwired to router via HDMI cable.
@poorbob try a different HDMI cable first.

The HDMI cable to the router is only so I can use the smart TV functions. I don't need it to watch TV and had this problem before I added the cable.

@poorbob so right now all you have connected is your COAX cable to your TV. Have you checked your input source settings on your TV's menu? Just making sure that it is not looking for something that is not there.
