pc not having power when cpu is installed

Hi, i recently upgraded my pc however when i installed the new cpu the pc will not have any power supply as well as when i intall the previous cpu. have i damaged the motherboard? or is there something else ?

@joshwaltisbuhl upgraded how.? Since we do not have any info we will need to know your mobo make and model, your RAM make and model and you PSU make and model. This could beca compatibility issue.

Could you provide us with a photo of the cpu socket from a birds eye view as square as you can get it with good lighting please

Just so we can check there’s no bad pins that are burned or misaligned

A detailed list of events of your install might lead to an answer. If you happened to insert the CPU incorrectly, that might create serious issues. If the MB is not secured properly to the chassis, you may have a short == but that should show up without the CPU. If the heat sink is not properly installed, that could fry the CPU in a heartbeat.
