Battery doesn't charge after battery replacement

I replaced the battery in my iPhone XS, and all seems to be well, however the battery does not charge.

The phone recognises that a power source is connected through the tone (both through using the lightning port or charging pad), however the battery icon does not change to the battery icon superimposed with the spark.

The battery is also stuck at 0%. I can boot the phone ok, but it shuts down after a few minutes if I do something that draws more power.

In the end, I did a DFU restore to rule out any software issues, however this has not solved the issue.

Anyone seen a similar issue?

It could have have a damaged connection on the battery I would take it off and check the connections and clean the connectors. Also check the capacitors next to the battery connector. You should also check the lightning port. Here is a video that shows what I was talking about.

Thanks for the pointers - I think I've narrowed it down to either:

1) damage somewhere on the logic board, perhaps a missing capacitor, as mentioned on the link that @barriphone shared.

2) a defective new battery

Either way, I can't validate the battery, and don't have the kit to do any micro-soldering so I've had to drop the phone off at my local technicians. I'll hear back from him tomorrow.
