Will power supply for 1.8 GHz 17" work in my 2GHz 20"?

I've come across an ad for PSU of a demised 1.8 GHz. Before I buy it, I'd like to ask if it will work in my 20" 2.0 GHz iMac.

The indentation where the bottom middle screw tightens and holds the PSU in place is in a different location. One is is the middle the other is to the right. The PSU will work but the case will bulge out where the screw in plate hits the PSU. Some have ALS (ambient light sensors) and some do not, that attach to the bottom of the PSU.

I would doubt it as the power supplies have different part numbers and there is a slight difference in appearance. Check the parts listing at the right under the photo.

Yes, the 2 power supplies look different in the location of the AC input socket and the Kensington lock. The rest of the external features look the same. I've looked at the PSU ratings of the iMacs from 2005-2006 (17" and 20" LCDs) and they are all 180 watts. I suppose the pinouts are also the same. Maybe they can be interchangeable. I'll see the seller tomorrow and compare the 2 units side by side.

Update on this. Apparently the PSU from the 17" will work in the 20" and vice versa but only for bench testing purposes. Their physical configuration will not allow an "into the chassis" permanent exchange.
