They released the Dell Alienware M17 R4 again in 2021 with new specs including NVME, 30 series cards, etc. I think I linked an updated manual for the newer model as I have one and was directed to that for the newest updated version of editing this model laptop.

The repair guides on ifixit are mostly created by users, such as yourself. Ifixit does not have the resources to create guides (or updated guides) for every device. It is great that they provide a free platform for others to use and share the information
The history of the current ifixit guide for the laptop, shows what contributions have been made to the guide since it was first created in April 2018.
The fact that there is now a newer model with the same name but with different specifications means that there should be a new guide created that reflects the new model. The old guide should remain as is, as it is still relevant to the older model which has the same name.
If you feel like creating a new guide then please feel free to do so. No doubt others in the future will thank you for doing it. Perhaps call it Dell Alienware M17 R4 2021.
Perhaps Dell should be taken to task for making two laptops with the same name, as it is obviously confusing. No doubt more so in the future if parts are required for either model
