Printer scratches dvd disk when printing label

Is it scratching the top, or the bottom? If it’s scratching the top, make sure it is flat - Epson doesn’t have an install check sensor on the CD print function, as the sensor just isn’t there. If that’s not it, check to see if the frame is bent as that will do it every time, even if the CD is properly installed. If it looks bent, it is - it just may not be bent *enough* to affect photos or day to day printing but affects the CD printing. You may be able to disassemble the printer to fix it if it’s the top platen by straightening it (by hand!), but the lower platen=new printer for CDs.

If it’s a bottom scratch, you’re just going to have to be careful or switch CD brands - look at the Japan Disc Taio Yudens, Ritek Pro or Verbatim. They do not have a coating unless it’s a BD-R (it’s part of the Blu-Ray spec), but the plastic is better able to handle sliding vs cheap discs.
