put a new hard drive in ps3 but wont format tried install soft ware as it told me like 3.66 of later OS i download the software on to a USB stick plug it in to the ps3 then wont do any thing is there anything I'm doing wrong hope some can help

Not sure if you formatted your drive yet etc. Settings > System Settings > Format Utility > Format Hard Disk There are some really good instructions right here
