Light turns on, ds doesnt

I found my old ds and when I plug it in to charge the red light turns on, but when I try to turn it on nothing happens. The screen doesn’t turn on, there’s no sound, the charge light doesn’t even change. What is the issue and what do I need to do to fix it?
