Replacement battery nowhere in stock/untrustworthy companies

Hi all,

I’ve recently obtained an Alienware 17 R3 laptop which has a failed battery. I want to replace it as it’s really annoying having to power down the laptop every time I want to move it.

I’ve been looking about for a replacement battery but I can’t find any. I’ve contacted three companies that advertise the required battery, but they’ve replied saying they don’t have it in stock, neither do their suppliers.

Otherwise, companies I have checked out on Trustpilot have been reviewed as very untrustworthy and mostly sell knock-off batteries from cheap Chinese firms which I am very keen to avoid.

Could anyone give me some pointers or direct me to a trustworthy company that may have this battery replacement in stock?

Cheers in advance,

~A

Are you looking at a genuine pack, or are you okay with a trustworthy aftermarket pack? I’m in this same boat with my cheap E7440 :(. I got a really good deal since I needed to do some repairs, but no battery. However, since the machine needed work (and the part is not cheap), I bought a donor with the part I needed and looked for one that came with a battery. It worked out for the screen but not the battery (possible expansion issues; known to happen on mistreated E7440 batteries).

I’m able to find a genuine pack from PartsPeople, but they’re out of stock like everyone else. You’re probably going to have to wait until Covid stops shutting the schools down for parts availability to improve like everyone else. Parents are buying all of the batteries up right now.

Hi Nick,

I'd be happy with an aftermarket piece if it was the correct part and worked as good as a first party battery. Just no idea what I should be looking for in that case as I'm not particularly au fait with PC/Laptop repairs and assembly.

@am2205 Basically stay away from eBay and Amazon for batteries. It's Russian roulette in a nice looking place.

We had a HP G60-230US - had a aftermarket eBay 9C (6C died) and the board went up in smoke. I think there was liquid involved as well, but I'm not 100% clear on it at this point.

Ah I see, so stick to genuine products then?

@am2205 Ideally, yes. If not, make sure the seller backs the product.
