Problems after SSD Installation

Ouch! You’ll need to open your system up again to replace the adapter as its bad. I really don’t recommend using these adapters in iMac’s as its such a bear to get to them Vs a MacBook Pro.

I would recommend going with a OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD. Yes, its more expensive! But how many times do you want to tear into your system?

You microphone issue may not be a bad unit! I bet you managed to clog the microphone hole with the tape!

I strongly recommend using the proper tapes designed for the system. I use a single hole paper punch to trim the tape for the needed gap.

A common issue is using poor quality solvents to wipe the surface. Then often leave a film which messes up the adhesion, the other issue is not pressing the screen into the case so the adhesive is able to grip firmly. I use a small rubber J roller to help me press the display down. Lastly, temp is a factor too! A room that’s cold will prevent the adhesive to cure effectively! Even in a war room I would use a hair drier or variable heat gun to warm up the surfaces and keep them warm so the adhesion is firm.
