Upgrade SSD from fusion drive

Hi

I want to upgrade SSD 4TB from my iMac fusion drive (1TB HDD and 128gb SSD).

Will this be ok?

My iMac is 27”, late 2014, 3.5ghz and 32gb memory.

Any suggest should I aware such as fan control will impact if I use this large of SSD?

Thanks

A Fusion Drive is two physical drives a SATA drive iMac 因特尔 27" Retina 5K 显示屏 硬盘更换 as well as a Blade SSD 27英寸 5K Retina 显示屏 iMac 固态硬盘SSD 更换.

So the first thing you’ll need to think about is which one are you replacing. While more work, the Blade SSD is by far the best swap out for performance!

OWC offers a Aura Pro X2 2.0TB NVMe SSD. If you are into video this is by far the best solution, making it your boot drive holding your apps and your active work.

Then upgrade your much slower SATA drive with a bigger HDD or SSD if you need deeper storage to hold your finished work.

Thank you for let me know.

To be clear of your suggest - I want to replace HDD to SDD which is no issue, but replace blade SSD is critical for the performance? if so, it is new to me as I thought just replace HDD to SDD…..

@razamac - You can't use cloning software any more! APFS volumes are very different from the older HFS+ volumes.

With the new drive mounted inside restart your system and press the Command (⌘)-R to enter into macOS Recovery: About macOS Recovery

Then you'll need to connect your old drive to your system and use Migration Assistant to move your stuff over.
