Will not power on. Have amber light

I’ve been given a DSi and it won’t power on. When you plug the mains charger in you get the amber light but nothing else. If you remove the battery with the power cable still plugged in the amber light flashes. I have got it to power up once for a split second and could see both screen on but it went back off again and won’t come on.

Any ideas?
