"Problem with both trackpad and keyboard"

Both the trackpad and keyboard have not been working properly lately. I've rebooted the system a couple of times, but it only helps temporarily.

Using the macbook pro without the battery seemed to help for the first couple of days but I started to have the same problem, and it seems to become more consistent.

Any advise guys? I wouldn't want to pay a big amount of money to have it repaired. Hopefully it will not come to that. I will consider it as my last resort.
