What NVME SSD can I use?

HI all,

I have both a 2017 and 2013 27” iMacs

I have recently upgraded the 2017 Fusion Drive (25GB NVMe SSD + 1TB 7200 HDD) to a 2 TB NVMe SSD and a 4 TB SATA SSD.

My questions is on my 2013 iMac which I bought 2nd hand came with no drives. Can I use the 25GB NVMe SSD in the 2013 iMac? I know the 7200 1TB HDD will be fine.

Alternatively, I have a 1 TB Samsung 970 with adaptor (I was going to use in a MacBook air) that I could use as well?

Thanks

Grant

The 2013 iMac PCIe drives use AHCI technology, but also can support NVMe SSDs as well, allowing for upgrades to later generation NVMe drives.

I think its worth the gamble, I personally haven’t put in a NVMe SSD into a 2013 iMac so I’m not sure.
