My security firm said my Mac Pro was slow because my drivers were sleeping. Only two were active and not sleeping. What should I do?

Why is your security firm doing on your system!

I know my doctor by his first name and I know his kids. So I know what I tell him is private. Can you say the same for all of the people looking through your stuff on your drives? I don't know of any security firm going to this level.

Your system puts your non-active drives into sleep to reduce heat buildup and reducing power needs.

As an example the energy settings in the MacBook Pro’s allow you to alter the Computer and Display sleep times under Energy Saver.

Within the Desktop Energy Saver we have a few additional options

You can control the hard drives independently and allow the system to be woken by a requesting remote system (I have a firewall setup that prevents anyone from the internet access to my systems).

I would be very careful leaving my system fully open from the internet without a very strong firewall setup.
