What's wrong with the screen on this MacBook air

This is technically a 2017 MacBook air (A1466, EMC 3176) but it is essentially the same as a 2015 model so I'm posting it here.

I've purchased this MacBook used off a friend of mine. This is what it looks like.

It has vertical and horizonal lines going to the display but the lcd itself isn't cracked. I unpluged the display cable and plugged it back in and it didn't seem it do anything. Is my display broken or is the display cable broken and what part should I get replaced?

FYI: The seller said that the screen broke after he ran with the Mac in his backpack. It must have hit something hard inside the bag and broke it.

Your displays left corner appears to have been hit quite hard. I’m suspecting the LCD display panel is damaged. You’ll need to replace it MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Display Assembly and here’s the guide MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Display Assembly Replacement
