Vega 56 Power connectors

Hi, i want to use a Vega 56 in my mac pro 5.1 it has two 8 pin connectors. I have a cable from 2 mini 6 pin to one 8 pin. Is there any cable from 2 sata to 8 pin to connect the second 8 pin on the graphics card? thanks

To get 8 pin power you will need to perform a mod called the Pixlas mod. It’s not overly complicated and if you’re interested here’s a tutorial.

actually, the Mac Pro can comfortably use Vega 56's without a Pixlas mod.

two mini 6 pins to 8 pin PCIe cables are enough as the two mini 6 pins actually carry around 120 watts each, and the PCIe slot makes 75. this gives you just enough power to run a vega 56. but i would not recommend using anything more powerful than a 56

(normally mini 6 pins only make 75 watts according to the pcie standard, but apple seemed to break that for some reason, maybe anticipating more powerful gpus in the future)
