My fan is constantly running and it makes a bloody loud noise

I paid to get my fan replaced a couple of months ago, thinking that the noise would get better and the new fan would stop the constant overheating (even when im just running chrome). I also thought that getting the fan replaced would clear any dust build up. my computer is still overheating so this was not the right decision, are their any ways to improve the cooling without spending a lot of money and is there a chance that dust is still built up in my pc?

1st make sure that your CPU is not always running at 100% (then it's a software problem and the fan is simply trying to work with it). If CPU usage is reasonable, it might be due to buildup of dust between fan and heat exchanger, particularly if you often use it on fabric (you pants, bed covers...). Open the back (lots of tiny screws but not difficult). Remove the fan (2 screws and one tape), use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust. Put back together. 10 minutes tops.

Hi Joshua,

Fan replacement is not the best way to improve your cooling system. Overheating is linked with thermal paste on the IOs and the permeability of MB cooler.

First way:

Disassemble your laptop and remove cooling paste frim the cooler on the GPU/CPU. Then replace with better thermal paste (MX-4). You can also check if it’s without dust.

If it’s still overheating, then your cooler can be damaged or you need second way.

Second way

Buy a new cooling pad with sufficient power.

If it’s still overheating, then it’s time to order a new MB cooler, but it might be expensive.

I have heard that thermal paste is very toxic, are ultrabooks easy to do this with and do they require any special tools?
