Board Replaced, won't charge and no startup chime

Hi All,

Just got a replacement macbook air board (2015 model) to replace the failed motherboard on my macbook.

After installing the board, as soon as the power is connected, screen turns on, shows red low battery icon and then the fans spin up and then turns off. This goes on for 3 times and then completely turns off.

If I disconnect the battery however, the computer would turn on. But the CPU fan seems to be spinning at full blast.

Furthermore I do not get any audio from the device. Not even the startup chime.

Any help would be appreciated.

Trackpad works, and clicks also registered.
Magsafe light does not come on.

No audio points to a faulty I/O, which might as well be the culprit for the no charging issue. Replacing that and the flat cable connecting it to the logic board may solve your issues. However it would be good to always have some background info about the Mac, it would help figuring out what’s the problem a bit better.

A common issue is the pins within the ribbon connector get damaged for the audio. Also liquid damage on the I/O board. The power failing points to liquid damage on the I/O board or the battery also needs replacing.

Thanks for the quick response . Yes it was indeed the I/O board cable. It was missing ha ha.

Managed to track it down and now everything is sorted. :)

@gunemalli I had my macbook’s left i/o board replaced along with the flex cable after having spilled milk tea on it but after receiving my macbook the battery won’t charge after a certain point with every new charger that i use and the battery icon says “battery not charging”
