To replace the back i fixit shows how to remove the ejector trigger which is screwed to the GPS. i fixit also mentions that some replacement backs do not have a predrilled hole into which the screw and trigger go to.
How do I put the trigger back in without a hole. I am afraid to just drill a hole since the tolerances are so close

i've just put one in by making a small hole with a pin to start it off and then using the screw as usual with a piece of foam under the case. just be careful with the pressure you apply-you don't want to crack the case.
