Will not turn on

Hi, My mac is not turning on. I push the power button and nothing happens. I tried all the press the power button and several combination of keys and nothing.

At the beginning the power cable was orange as when the battery is charging. I opened the laptop and disconnected the battery hopping it wouldl reset somehow and when I connected it again the cable stop showing any lights. The trackpad still makes a noise when I click it.

Does it have to be the logic board? I am on holiday and cannot find any parts here, but urgently need some info in the hard drive. Yes, idiot me had not backed up in a while.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your comments. The laptop does not turn on even if I disconnect the battery, so I suppose it is either the cable if I am very lucky or the logic board. I have not even been able to find another magsafe here to try it out, but I am looking.

Any ideas on how to get the data while I cannot fix or replace the logic board though? There is no way that I can plug that hard drive to something else? I cannot find the external hard drive casings either :( I have passport external drive that I dismantled yesterday, hopping the connection looked kind of similar, but the usb port was directly on top of the passport hard drive.

Just google "macbook pro 2014 drive enclosure" and you'll get what you need in a second. BTW, it's better to comment the answer than your own question ;)

Try plugging in the Magsafe with battery disconnected, if it’s just a battery issue the Mac will start on its own. A faulty battery can prevent the Mac from starting but if it doesn’t start even without battery then a logic board issue may at play. Make sure your Magsafe is working though, that is always a possibility one has to consider. I wouldn’t be concerned about data in this case, unless there was a spill data should be still there.

OP Try shining a flashlight behind the apple logo when you can feel the feedback from the trackpad. If I'm correct you should be able to see some text / display but very dim.

For no backlight faults on macbooks it'll require a reputable repair store that does board repairs for MacBooks to get this fixed. You may be able to find someone locally that offers this service.

Edit: On these models they tend to not have the fan spinning initially until the main processor starts boiling around 60°C and higher.

@benjamen50 I disregarded the OP clicking info on trackpad as force touch wasn't yet available on that earlier 1502 release. I understood it just doesn't start at all.

Oh I am in the wrong, the 2015 A1502 had the force touch trackpads and not the older ones. Never mind then.
