Boots intermintant, freezes from time to time
Tried booting and get message that states :you need to restart, press power butter for several seconds or the restart button.
Also when it does boot it freezes at different times.

This could be a number of things from a failing logic board to a failing hard drive to a corrupt system. So we need to take the shotgun approach and try several things. First I would start up from my system installation disk, go to the second page pull down menu to Utilities > Disk Utility select the hard drive on the left and see if you can repair the drive and the permissions. That failing come back and we'll reset the SMC and zap the PRAM.
