1TB SSD replacement doesn't fit

I bought the OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD that is supposed to fit as a replacement for my MacBook Pro (early 2015 13” retina), but the shape is different and doesn’t fit into the slot. Is there another one that I can get that will fit?

Edit: Pics added on 6/10

The narrower (Samsung) is the original drive, and the wide (OWC) one is the replacement. The overall width of the part that goes in the slot is the same, but the notch is in a different spot. I tried turning it over just to check, but the replacement won’t fit either way.

Here's a good reference The Ultimate Guide to Apple’s Proprietary SSDs

Also review the OWC site OWC Solid State Drives For MacBook Pro with Retina Display (Late 2013 - 2015) to make sure you got the correct drive.

Can you explain what is causing it not to fit. Are you putting it in correctly? The connector is keyed so it will only go in one way (right side up). The blade SSD does need to be the narrow version not the wide version. Did you get the wide one?

he got an m2. it simply needs the apple drive

@tomfixee - "OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD" is a custom Apple SSD.

Hi there, it doesn't fit because the notch doesn't align where it's supposed to, and it's too wide to fit into the slot even if the notch did align.

Sounds like you got the wrong SSD! Some how you got an M.2 version instead of the Apple custom. Contact OWC to get it exchanged.

Dan, I chose the one right on the ifixit page for my model... and the one I received looks like the one on their page. So either they have listed the wrong SSD or there are different versions of my model. I've got a better idea of what to look for now, thanks fellas.

Googling that seems to be an M2. That goes in a slot. Since I am not experienced in mac repair, If there is no m2 slot, no fit. I have seen a case that mac doesnt hae m2.

Hi guys, thanks for the links and input. I assumed that the SSD on the ifixit page for my model would fit, but I'll have to do some digging. Tom, the drive in the link you put in your update looks like my original one. Unfortunately they are out of stock in the larger capacity ones.
