incompatibility issues in the replacement battery in mojave?

i read the replacement battery for the mid 2012 macbook air model (13”) could perhaps be not properly recognized by macos el captain or sierra. Is this issue also present in the newest mojave macos?

thank you !

Where did you hear this FUD ??

The battery communicates with Systems Management Computer (SMC) logic and then SMC talks to the systems OS. So the SMC services isolate the battery from the OS so the OS has no knowledge of the battery directly.

As long as the battery is properly designed and built this is just not true.

@danj We've heard of this with some of our batteries in the past. Unsure of this still occurs as it's been a while since the last CS ticket we've gotten, but it is something we've noted on our product page because some customers felt it needed to be presented before checkout. @kadan I'm with @danj on this, can't see how and never experienced a working battery not being recognized by a particular Os release. If a battery is not recognized, it's very likely it won't be recognized by any Os as SMC is part of firmware basic set of instructions.

@kadan - I would focus on the SMC firmware levels to see if that was the issue.

If you look at a system with a 3rd party battery you can see some have an issue with lack of S/N and the batteries firmware levels are not valid. Could this be the issue?

I've put in tons of batts in quite a few models and other than a bad battery I haven't encountered any issues.

If SMC can't interface with the battery or the battery is returning a bad value that is the only issue and that would effect any OS version.
