Advice On Internal Cleaning, Battery & Fan

Greetings!

The fan started running continuously on my MacBook Air, additionally the battery was dying and will now not power up.

Obviously I need to change the battery, however I’m led to believe I may need to physically clean inside the machine and change the fan.

Does anyone have experience of this and advive on physical cleaning of the inside of the machine.

Thank you

High speed fan is not likely caused by a bad fan, avoid any purchase before replacing battery. A faulty battery can cause throttling of the CPU that can cause the Mac overheating, hence full speed fan..you can verify that from activity monitor app you find in utilities folder, select show “all processes” and see if kernel task takes up all computing power. If things get back to normal after disconnecting battery from the logic board there you have your confirmation. Thermal paste would probably be dry and quite useless by now if you never replaced it before..blowing fan and heat sink with canned air and replacing thermal paste would be a good idea too.

BTW..if your Mac doesn’t boot with battery disconnected the main problem would not be the battery.

Heat sinks can also develop leaks on the crimped ends, look for an oily stain on the logic board.
