The Mac Pro First Generation is an Intel Xeon-based workstation computer manufactured by Apple Inc. The first generation model includes the machines from 2006 through 2008.
I replaced my MacPro optical drive with NEC 3250 A DVD RW but cd or dvd does not mount after inserting it in the drive. When I insert a blank disk it recognizes it, but with regular disks nothing.

What system are you running? What burning application? Will it work on the other drive?

I don't think that DVD drive is supported with MacOS. Are you sure its supported? You may need a device driver.
